Antoine Poupel: Solo Show at Galerie 20 Thorigny

On Tuesday, 4 February 2025, Galerie 20 Thorigny in Paris welcomed visitors for a solo presentation of Antoine Poupel’s work, with an evening reception from 5 to 9 p.m.

Poupel’s photography explores the possibilities of the image beyond the recording of a moment. Through experimentation, superposition, and a painterly approach to light, he transforms elements of the visible world into compositions that invite a closer, more sustained look.

The invitation’s luminous green image offers an introduction to this sensibility. Reflections, vegetation, and shadow appear to merge, creating a landscape whose forms remain open to interpretation. The eye moves between recognizable details and passages of colour, discovering new relationships within the image.

Presented in the gallery’s setting in the Marais, the solo show offered an opportunity to encounter Poupel’s photographic universe and his continuing exploration of the relationship between photography and painting.
