On 27 June 2026, Le Journal du Gers published an illustrated presentation of Antoine Poupel’s exhibition Peindre la lumière at Le Carrelot in La Romieu.

Bringing together Zingaro and Saison 5, the exhibition connected two aspects of his photographic practice: his longstanding relationship with Bartabas’s equestrian theatre and his personal exploration of Japan.

From Zingaro to Japan

The Zingaro photographs reflect Poupel’s years accompanying the company, translating its theatrical world into images shaped by his own artistic vision.

In Saison 5, fragments of Japanese landscapes are combined and transformed. Places and moments meet within a https://lejournaldugers.fr/article/92493-exposition-antoine-poupel-photographies-peindre-la-lumierephotographic space that moves beyond the sequence of the familiar seasons.

The presentation includes a text by Anne-Marie Sudry, who explores how these combinations create an imagined fifth season. Her reading draws attention to the freedom of Poupel’s compositions and the possibilities they open for the viewer.

Published as a press release, the article offers an introduction to the exhibition, with photographs and reflections on Poupel’s creative approach.
